It is the seasons of self discovery, exploration, and connection. It’s a time to embark on new adventures, whether walking through scenic trails or simply soaking up the sun after a long winter. With each sunrise, this season invites us to give gratitude in the beauty of life’s ever-renewing cycle. Spring is truly a magnificent time, rich with possibility and bursting with opportunities to create lasting memories!

Spring Islamic nature reflection

For me spring is a time of renewal, where the dead earth is reborn, it’s a constant reminder of Allah mercy and promise of resurrection after death. I do find that contemplation and reflection sitting on a bench can be really humbling experience for the soul. There is a real appreciation of Allah gift to us all, a beautiful world and how nature is a trust for us and we are the gatekeepers. Spring is my favourite season, I love the daffodils coming out, and you see them everywhere, the distinct yellow petals, colourful and joyful to look out. As someone who enjoys walking, why not take a walk, its spring 2025. I walk around the river rea route towards stirchley from Highgate, its stunning, the wildlife and flowers are there for all to see and cherish.

Mindfulness in Nature: During spring, the world is reborn in colour, sound, and scent. This vibrancy serves as an invitation to practice mindfulness, which is the focus on being present and fully aware of one’s thoughts and experiences. Engaging with the sights and sounds of spring allows practitioners to cultivate a deeper connection to the present moment. Walking meditation amidst blossoming trees, listening to the songs of returning birds, or simply observing the growth of new life can ground a person in the here and now.

Autumn and Islamic nature reflection

Interestingly, much of our delight from autumn stems from watching the leaves change colours and then fall.  We notice the slow emptying of the trees, wrap ourselves tighter in warmer sweaters, and take in the bareness of it all.  It is this willingness of the leaves to let go of that invites the next season.  By letting ourselves go and taking it all in much like nature herself, we can learn to cultivate more gratitude, and better cherish all the innumerable blessings we have been given. For me I love the autumn colours, it reminds me of the importance of nature’s cycles and how like in life you have cycles of one’s own very personal experiences and challenges. The fresh air across my face, the rain which is Allah mercy. I love the rain, the sounds and I’m thankful of it, thinking of others around the world where there are droughts.

Summer and Islamic nature reflections

Summer is a season of warmth, growth, and fruitfulness. It’s when the seeds we planted begin to show results. Faith isn’t just for the hard times — it’s also about gratitude during the good. Take a moment to thank.

I love the summer, for me as a Muslim it’s a time for hope, renewal, I love walking in Cannon Hill Park and watching the wildlife, the beautiful flowers of every kind, such as roses of every colour and bluebells. The Bluebells remind me of childhood memories of walking with my school friends at bluebell fields, the smell I can smell them even now, cherished memories, never forgotten.

Winter and Islamic nature reflections

The winter is a time of rest and self reflection, a time to remember the year and to share memories, I love it when it snows, the snow flaxes, each distinct to another. I love the awe of nature, the echo of the wind howling, and the stillness of earth. I love walking and hearing the sound of crushing snow, I bring my dreams with me and hope for better days ahead, I was here once and I’m thankful to Allah for everything.

In conclusion, lets be grateful always and lets all experience and take care of our environment, we can all do something, no action or deed is too small for Allah sake, a planting of  a seed is sadaka.

A good action is like a seed which gives out 100s of seeds which fall to the ground the positive cycle continues.
